Show Me the Money: Allocations of $42.5 Million to Solid-State Lighting

On June 29, 2009, the Department of Energy (”DOE”) issued three Funding Opportunity Announcements (”FOAs”) to deploy over $41.5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to be used to fund solid-state lighting1 (”SSL”) product development, manufacturing, and innovation. These funds are being deployed through three FOAs. The first FOA provides $11.5 million to support research in the SSL Product Development Program. The second FOA provides $22 million to support applied research in the SSL U.S. Manufacturing Program. The third FOA provides approximately $8 million to support applied research in the Lighting Research and Development Program.
