Facing opposition from the entire Republican Senate Delegation, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has revealed plans to put comprehensive energy legislation, including cap and trade and renewable portfolio standard provisions, on hold, choosing instead to introduce a scaled back version tackling less controversial issues.

RES Awarded Contract for Nebraska Wind Project
Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. has been awarded the Balance of Plant (BOP) construction contract for the Flat Water Wind Project in Nebraska. The project will mark RES Americas’ second wind energy project in the state.

OG&E Could Quadruple Wind Capacity by 2012
OG&E is seeking Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) approval to build and operate a new 198-megawatt (MW) wind farm in northwestern Oklahoma. If approved, the company would achieve its goal of quadrupling the amount of wind power on its system by 2012. The new wind farm, named Crossroads, is expected to come online in the second half of 2011.
