A trend towards larger capacity turbines with longer blades and larger rotor diameters has been long established, with OEMs continuing to offer existing machines with a range of rotor diameters. But now, a new generation of still larger machines has been unveiled.

OG&E Could Quadruple Wind Capacity by 2012

OG&E is seeking Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) approval to build and operate a new 198-megawatt (MW) wind farm in northwestern Oklahoma. If approved, the company would achieve its goal of quadrupling the amount of wind power on its system by 2012. The new wind farm, named Crossroads, is expected to come online in the second half of 2011.

Regulators Approve OG&E Wind Contracts

Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) announced that the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) has issued two orders authorizing the company’s purchase of electricity from new wind farms currently being developed in northwestern Oklahoma.
