Outland To Do O&M for Minwind’s Vestas & NEG Turbines
Minwind Energy LLC (Minwind) has awarded Outland Renewable Energy (Outland) a two-year contract to provide post-warranty operations and maintenance services for Minwind’s Vestas and NEG-Micon turbines in southwest Minnesota. Under the terms of the deal, Outland will perform all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Minwind’s seven Vestas V82 1.65-megawatt (MW) turbines and four NEG-Micon 950-kilowatt (kW) turbines beginning on June 1, 2010.

REpower Systems: Less is More Offshore
When REpower commenced developing the 5M turbine in 2001 the company’s R&D department totaled only around 15-20 engineers, compared with the 200+ found there today. During September 2004, REpower Systems AG successfully erected a 5 MW 5M prototype at Brunsbüttel north of Hamburg, Germany, the largest and most powerful wind turbine in the world at that time.
