From Copenhagen: Renewable Energy Gets Boost as Climate Talks Stall
In the midst of a turbulent week of demonstrations outside the Climate summit in Copenhagen, in which the police released teargas and arrested hundreds of people, the U.S. announced new initiatives and legislation that will give renewable energy a significant boost at home and in developing countries.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is a child of the Kyoto Protocol, the climate treaty that the U.S. did not ultimately ratify. As a result of that failure, many of those in the U.S are not familiar with the CDM, and the opportunities it offers to us and those in developing countries.

The Federal Energy Subsidy Scorecard: How Renewables Stack Up
In a speech at the United Nations and afterward at the G-20 summit meeting in September, President Obama called for elimination of government subsidies for greenhouse gas (GHG) emitting fossil fuels. Said the President “I will work with my colleagues at the G20 to phase out fossil fuel subsidies so that we can better address our climate challenge.”
