A new report from the European Environment Agency has concluded that wind power’s potential in 2020 is as much as three times greater than Europe’s expected electricity demand, rising to a factor of up to seven times demand by 2030.

As part of Governor Patrick’s Massachusetts Recovery Plan to secure the state’s economic future, Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Ian Bowles announced that federally sponsored Clean renewable energy Bonds (CREB) are available to help municipalities, state agencies and other public entities finance solar, wind and other renewable power projects.

Small Wind Energy Project Proposed for Massachusetts Turnpike

In pursuit of Governor Deval Patrick’s goal of 2,000 megawatts of wind power in Massachusetts by 2020, the Secretaries of the Executive Office of Transportation (EOT) and the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) announced a project to install a utility-scale wind energy project on state land adjacent to the Massachusetts Turnpike’s Blandford Rest Area.
