US Wind Market is Weaker Than in 2008

For the fourth consecutive year, the U.S. was home to the fastest-growing wind power market in the world in 2008, according to a report released today by the U.S. Department of Energy and prepared by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). Specifically, U.S. wind power capacity additions increased by 60 percent in 2008, representing a US $16 billion investment in new wind projects.

Northern Power Systems Launches Wind for Schools Package

Northern Power Systems Inc. has unveiled a wind energy for schools package that will help more schools produce their own wind power and engage their students and communities in realizing the benefits of renewable energy. Announced this week at WINDPOWER 2009, the package outfits educational institutions with a Northwind 100 wind turbine, standards-based K-12 curriculum that is customized and linked to real-time turbine data and web-based access for students and community members.
