Update: Treasury & DOE Award US $500M in Recovery Act Grant Funds for Renewables
A milestone was reached this week for the renewable energy industry as the first part of the US $3 billion grant program authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) were awarded. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Energy Secretary Steven Chu on Tuesday announced $502 million in the first round of awards from the ARRA program that provides cash assistance to energy production companies in place of earned tax credits.
