U.S. state and local efforts to create feed-in tariff (FIT) programs will not work as well as those in Europe unless regulators adopt the key principles that have made FIT programs so successful on the Continent, analysts say.

AWS Truepower, LLC, an international leader in renewable energy consulting and information services, today announced it has expanded its solar and wind testing and research relationship with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), including its participation in a new clean energy testing initiative funded by the agency. NYSERDA has awarded $4.4 million in funding over five years to a consortium led by quality and safety services provider Intertek. The funding will support the establishment of renewable energy test and research centers in New York that will be among the first of their kind in the nation.

Facing opposition from the entire Republican Senate Delegation, Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) has revealed plans to put comprehensive energy legislation, including cap and trade and renewable portfolio standard provisions, on hold, choosing instead to introduce a scaled back version tackling less controversial issues.
