“One of the principles of Greenpeace, one of the things that makes us so strong and special, is that we are non-violent. Fernando did not have to die; he was a threat to no one. We will never forget him. I hope the generations of activists who sail on the new ship will be as determined and as exceptional and as inspired as he was,” said Rainbow Warrior Captain Pete Willcox, as he laid a wreath today for Fernando Pereira, the Greenpeace photographer, who was murdered when French agents bombed and sunk the Rainbow Warrior 25 years ago.

Oh No Costco!

Two months after the release of its fourth sustainable seafood scorecard profiling major supermarket retailers, Greenpeace launched a website spoofing the Costco Wholesale website and visited the company’s headquarters in Seattle to draw attention to Costco’s lack of sustainable seafood policies and purchasing practices.

Failed inspection report

Following a citizen inspection of the highest risk chemical facility in the U.S., Greenpeace issued a ‘failed inspection’ report to the Kuehne Chemical Co. , Inc. of South Kearney, NJ. The inspection results show that 12 million people in the NYC-NJ metropolitan area are at risk due to the storage of up to 2 million pounds of chlorine gas at one facility.
